The Biblical Meaning of Love- 1 Corinthians Chapter 13

The Biblical Meaning of Love

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Teaching:
The Biblical meaning of love is not that we love God but that He loved us.
Love is not just a feeling but a collection of acts of kindness.
Practicing God’s love makes you beautiful.

Application:
Be biblical by loving like Jesus.
Be careful when we say “I love you.”
Be beautiful.

Discussion:
Why do we need to think of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 before saying, “I love you”?

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for today’s devotion. May my standard of love become more and more biblical. I pray that I will become committed to being patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not dishonoring others, not self-seeking, not hot-tempered, not keeping record of wrongs, not delighting in evil, someone who protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres—for love never fails. So, Lord, Let me do my best to embody all these qualities whenever I say, “I love you.” In Jesus’ name, amen!
